What can you do in Todos Santos?
That is the most common question we receive from people, even before they consider booking a stay in the area.
Todos Santos is a “Pueblo Mágico”, which means that Mexico’s Federal Government has cataloged the town as one of the most iconic places to visit in Mexico. This classification of the destination answers to the need of the Mexican Tourism board to promote small settlements that have various similarities between each other, which can be, in general:
As a settlement
- Has fewer than 10,000 inhabitants.
- The buildings are smaller; it has less traffic and vehicle density.
- It has a main square and a church.
As a social group
- It is founded based on a sense of belonging rooted in a common history, traditions, values, and customs.
- Community members typically maintain close and supportive relationships, fostering direct interaction among neighbors.
As of today, according to the Secretaría de Turismo, there are 132 “Pueblos Mágicos” across Mexico, and they are evaluated annually to remain on the list.
There are many activities in the Todos Santos area year-round, including sightseeing, mountain biking, ATV tours, horseback riding, surfing, and hiking. Along with them, shopping in Todos Santos’ downtown and tours through the art galleries make it the perfect place to enjoy its culinary variety.
Festivals in Todos Santos, a reason to visit.
Todos Santos is known for hosting various types of festivals year-round, including wine, food, art, and music.
Among other festivities, it hosts the Tropic of Cancer Music & Arts Festival (January), Fiestas Tradicionales de Todos Santos (October), Festival de Cine Todos Santos (November), GastroVino Food & Wine Festival (November), and Día de Muertos (October to November).
Just a 20-minute drive from downtown Todos Santos is Cerritos, the best beach for learning to surf, chilling, and enjoying food and music. Here, you will find several food options throughout the day, and on weekends music takes over the beach, so it is a must while visiting the area.
Something no one can miss is the picture in front of the Hotel California, which has for many years drawn many tourists to stay here and enjoy a pleasant stay. Unfortunately, it is closed for renovation, but the photograph is mandatory for visitors.
Staying in Vista Sierra Laguna, you will enjoy the peace of the Sierra de La Laguna, with amazing sunrises and tranquil sunsets, far enough from the noise of the highway but close to everything in the area. Just 10 minutes from Cerritos and 15 from Todos Santos, the perfect stay while visiting Baja Sur.
